SIA Compliant Door Supervisors Course

 

Introduction

 

This course is based on the Security Industry Authority's Specification for Core Competency Training and Qualifications for Door Supervisors.

 

The successful achievement of this course is a requirement for Door Supervisors intending to apply for an SIA Licence to Practice.

Programme Overview

 

Duration:  38 hours of delivered learning over a five day period.

 

Assessment: 

Part 1:  Working in the Private Security Industry (10 hours)

·         Know the purpose and main features of the private security industry.

·         Understand the legislation that is relevant to people working in the private security industry

·         Understand relevant aspects of health and safety in the workplace

·         Know how to apply the principals of fire safety

·         Know how to deal with non-fire related emergencies

·         Understand the principals of effective communication and customer care in the private security industry

 

Part 2:  Working as a Door Supervisor (10 Hours)

  • Roles and Responsibilities of a Door Supervisor.
  • Patrolling
  • Access Control
  • Searching
  • Technology and Systems
  • The Law
  • Reporting
  • Record Keeping
  • Arrest
  • Licensing Law
  • Drug Awareness

 

Part 3:  Conflict Management for the Private Security Industry (8 Hours)

 

  • Understand the principals of conflict management appropriate to their role
  • Understand how to recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations
  • Understand how to communicate effectively in emotive situations and de-escalate conflict
  • Understand how to develop and use problem solving strategies for resolving conflict
  • Understand good practice to follow after conflict situations

Part 4: Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry (10 Hours)

 

  • Defensive Physical Skills and Physical Intervention
  • The Law
  • Reducing Risk
  • Non aggressive Physical Skills to protect yourself and others from assault
  • Non restrictive Physical Intervention and Post incident procedures immediately following the use of Physical Intervention
