Introduction:
This programme aims to provide the learner with the basic skills, knowledge and understanding required to ensure the provision of a professional level of service as a Response Officer.
This course meets fully the S.I.A. requirements together with the training requirement contained in BS 7894: 2008 for audit purposes.
All Security Officers required to respond and deal with alarm activations. The Response Officer is usually the first to the scene of potential crime and has therefore to quickly determine the cause of the alarm and take decisive action to deal with it. The quick and effective action taken by the Response Officer can therefore prevent criminal activity, as well as save lives, property and premises.
It is also suitable for Control Room Operators, Supervisors, etc. who have the responsibility to manage and direct the Response Officer at alarm activations.
S.I.A. Requirements:
Whilst keyholding is a licensable activity under the Private Security Industry Act there currently is no core competency training required although Companies under the Approved Contractor Scheme will be required to provide subject specific training relating to the role of the employee.

Programme Structure:
The programme is a mixture of theory and scenario tuition delivered in the classroom
Prior Learning:
It is anticipated that Keyholding & Alarm Response Officers will already have undertaken and successfully completed the SIA Security Guarding core competency training.
Learners not having achieved will be offered the 4 day Level 2 Award in Security Guarding (Static & Patrol).
Assessment:
Multiple Choice Question Paper - internally assessed, externally moderated by ASET.
Progression:
Keyholding & Alarm Response is usually seen as progression from the Basic Static & Patrol guarding duties.
This nationally recognised course will provide the underpinning knowledge to assist learners to progress towards the NVQ at Level 3
