E-LEARNING SOLUTIONS FOR SECURITY INDUSTRY LAUNCHED BY WSG
14 October 2010
WSG Associates have launched their pilot to introduce e-learning solutions for their customers and learners.
The first programmes that are available are pre-course study materials for the current SIA Licence Linked Qualifications for Security Guarding, Door Supervisors and CCTV (PSS) Operators. These programmes are available either as individual units or as a course package. Security Officer refresher training will be available later this month together with a number of other development programmes.
“We are always be striving for ways to improve our customer’s learning experience. These are aimed at providing information and improving the learners knowledge and learning experience” stated Stuart Galloway, Senior Associate of WSG Associates “Taking aside the difficult economic times the introduction of e learning as part of any learning and development strategy brings many benefits.”
Some of the benefits that Galloway alludes to include; geographical barriers are eliminated, learning is self paced and self directed, accommodates multiple learning styles, 24/7 accessibility, on demand access, reduce training costs, improves employee engagement.
These programmes are not only available to WSG Associates learners, they are also available under licence to training providers and in house training departments who want to improve and enhance their traditional delivery methods.
Galloway further states “e learning is not only flexible in terms of where and when but also why as it allows us to tailor bespoke packages upon request for particular customer or customer location needs.”
There is the old adage of “Good teaching is good teaching, no matter how it’s done!” still rings true and e-learning brings with it new dimension in training
Mick Clark, Senior HR Business Partner at leading security company Corps Security stated “I’m very excited by the e-learning portal which WSG have introduced. The pre-course content for the SIA licence linked training is both well written and well presented and will only serve to provide a good grounding in the basic knowledge required prior to a delegate attending. I’m not interested in WSG using this to shorten the length of the training courses, instead, it will allow them to move through the basics more quickly and allow the trainer to concentrate on the more advanced topics and to go into greater depth on others.
The content is pitched perfectly, with the voice over providing more detail and retaining interest.
Hopefully this will ensure that the WSG trainers are able to assess the knowledge of delegates on the courses, prior to them attending, identifying areas which may need recapping or covering in greater detail, ensuring that delegates leave the course with the knowledge that they need to be a successful security officer."
